I’m not much of a coffee-drinker so when I recently rediscovered chocolate-covered espresso beans, I was enamoured and thought it was a brilliant concept: coffee without the mess!
Being the novelty-seeker that I am, when I saw the Second Cup Cafe Delights granola bars at Safeway, I had to buy all the flavours I could see even at full price. I’m sure to see them on sale for about 60% of full price sometime in the future.
Might I remind you that Second Cup is a great coffee shop chain originating in Toronto and, alas, hasn’t made a dent in the Vancouver market? Nutso Starbucks fans sending their money to the southern green-logo’ed corporation!
So far, I’ve had a full Vanilla Bean Latte bar and half a Moccaccino bar. Both were gooey and satisfyingly delicious with maybe the former slightly edging out the latter. And with only 140 calories per bar, I prefer them to those penny-thin 100-calorie servings of chocolate, cookies, what-have-you that are all the rage these days.
That said, I wish I could trade in the 90 or so Nature Valley Sweet & Salty bars in my pantry for Second Cup Cafe Delight bars!
Price: $3.89 (5 bars)
Vendor: Safeway

These are so good! On sale for 2.00 at my safeway!
I saw the Cafe Delights for just $1.97, regular price, at Superstore!
I also tried these bars when I was in Montreal earlier this month and now hope to find them in the U.S. They are 3 points on Weight Watchers and I prefer the mochachino bar over the vanilla latte.
I purchased a box of these at Costco on Saturday and was pleasanlty surprised “by the large bar” for the calorie count. If I am going to use 140 calories on a snack this is my choice. I am a fan of both, but would go for the vanilla latte, ~~hey in the USA check out your Costco. If you don’t have a membership, maybe you can tag along with a friend.
these are wonderful. So good and satisfies the indulgence for a sweet and still doens’t blow your meal plan.
hi these come in a 28 package at costco and are priced at 9.99 so 80 cents a bar. Quite a bang for 80cents. If you dont’ have a costco card and would like them in bulk, find a friend with a membership and tag along.
14 of each kind in the box.
For those that have yet to try, they satisfy the hunger with a little calorie boost, and so much flavour you wonder where they hid it all.
