Archer Farms Chocolate Chunk Hazelnut Biscotti Granola

The Superstore here used carry a Double Chocolate Crunch Cereal that had “a blend of chocolate and chocolate chip vanilla granola clusters, made with whole grain oats, rice and real cocoa” that went for an appropriate price–$3? $4?–for a modest-size box.

I don’t shop at Superstore often as they are vastly inconvenient for me to get to, but I would pick up a box whenever I did. By late last year, I started to notice that I couldn’t find it each time I looked and concluded that the product has been axed. I was so disappointed.

Now, I go to the U.S. for shopping about as often as I get around to a Superstore, amazingly. And it is a great pleasure to shop at Target and peruse the food aisles for food stuffs that I might see on American cable advertisements or read about in American food review blogs but don’t seem to notice here. Like Yoplait dessert-flavoured yogurts like Boston Cream Pie that I picked up. Like Pepperidge Farm’s cheese crisps.

And like Archer Farms, Target’s house brand.

We had a bit more time than usual to walk the aisles at Target–the guys were next door at Best Buy–and I spotted the granola in slender, rounded cardboard tubes. I was momentarily torn between the Pecan Sticky Bun Granola and the Chocolate Chunk Hazelnut Biscotti Granola then I remembered two things. (1) Chocolate granola has been discontinued at Superstore and I want to find a substitute. (2) The last thing I order that was “cinnamon bun” (Shreddies) was just awful.

I am ever so glad to have tried the chocolate granola. It is a “tasty mix of rolled oats, rice, chocolate chunks and hazelnuts.” I regularly look forward to eating as the incentive to wake up in the morning and the prospect of this yummy granola made the incentive much larger!
